The stone is cut flat rather than faceted, so it reads as a piece of rock rather than a piece of glass, and it is set flush into the shank where it cannot catch on a coat pocket.
Every stone in this batch came out of the same Perthshire quarry, so the color drifts between them: some are almost gray, one or two are nearly black. I will send photographs of what is in the drawer before you choose.
Silver, deliberately. Gold would make it precious and it is not meant to be precious. It is meant to be worn while gardening.
