Forged from round wire and tapered toward the join, so the hoop is heavy at the bottom and light where it goes through the ear. That is why they hang straight rather than tipping forward.
The post is a continuation of the hoop itself rather than a soldered-on fitting, which is the part that usually snaps. Nobody has broken a pair of these yet and I have made about ninety.
Named after where I learned to forge, on a bench that faced a window with nothing behind it but weather.
